ISO 9001 CERTIFICATION – QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

When implementing a  Quality Management System using the ISO 9001 Certification, the term ISO 9001:2015 certification will come up a lot, but what does this mean? How do you obtain ISO 9001 certification?

ISO 9001 Certification is the glonbally recognized ISO Standard for Quality Management Systems (QMS), first published in 1987 year by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), This is one of the most commonly used management tools across the globe.

ISO certification is used for government and Non-government organizations, but it has a different meaning for each. The ISO  certification process for an organization involves implementing processes to meet all of the needs in the ISO 9001 Certification, and then having an external ISO certification body audit and assure that all requirements are met. This includes an aim on client satisfaction and meeting regulatory requirements.

ISO 9001 Certification is designed to support organizations makes sure that they meet the requirements of a client and other stakeholders, by having a management system in place that support make sure consistent quality in the provision of goods or services.

What is the meaning of ISO 9001 certification?

So, what is ISO 9001:2015 certification? For an organization, this means that they can advertise that external- ISO auditors have assured that they meet all of the needs of the ISO 9001 Certification and, therefore, their quality management system meets these world-class requirements. ISO 9001 Certification has become the global ISO standard for quality assurance in business organizations.

For individuals, an ISO 9001:2015 certificate means that they have gained the knowledge required to implement or audit an ISO 9001 Certification quality management system, and that they can apply this knowledge within the QMS.

WHY IS ISO 9001 CERTIFICATION IMPORTANT IN THE ORGANIZATION?

ISO 9001 certification is important for an organization because it allows them to demonstrate to their client that they have the processes in place to offer products and services that meet their requirement, as verified by an independent organization. Sometimes the ISO 9001 Certification is required for the new customers.

Likewise, The ISO certification of individuals demonstrates to workers, through an independent means, that the person has the skills & knowledge required to implement and audit the ISO 9001 Certified quality management system. The ISO standard is important to demonstrate to others your ability to use the ISO 9001:2015 Certification.

What is QMS certification?

After implementing the ISO 9001 Certification requirements, the organization must maintain the QMS for a length of time. During this time, organizations personnel must conduct internal- audits and at least one management review of the system. After this, certified lead auditors from an ISO certification body will assess the system against the requirements for ISO 9001 Certification. If the ISO 9001 certification organization deems that the system meets the standard, and all of the ISO 9001 certification needs are met, then an ISO 9001 will be issued showing that the organization’s quality management system is acceptable to meet the standard. The organization is then considered to be ISO 9001 certified.
